Update from a post that was almost 11 years ago

Posted by Mrputter - April 10th, 2020

Got the grades I needed to get into architecture school.

It was torture at the start but in my masters I started to understand more of who I was as a designer and person, and I flourished. It took time, but I'm glad I perservered.

After 9 years of study and internships, I became an architect in 2018.

I've moved to London and landed myself a couple good roles and got to lead in a few projects.

It's fun and rewarding, but not without it's difficulties. The pay is low as an architect, I've been made redundant twice since the profession is heavily dependant on the economy, and there's a lot of long hours.

On my last post, I was 18 and for me, being an architect meant everything.

Now at 29, it's not even one of the main things I use to describe myself.

Maybe I'll be an architect for another 11 years or so; I'll go for whatever feels right when it comes up. If Newgrounds is still around in 2031, then I'll let whoever's reading it know.

Anyway, keep fighting and persevering. There were so many times in my teens and early 20s that I questioned myself, and it often worked out in the end. Hell, I question myself all the time now, but I just have to remind myself that I'm capable and there are so many amazing opportunities out there.
